Fort Washington Officer Hit By Suspected Drunk Driver At Crash Scene

A Fort Washington police officer was hit by a suspected drunk driver at a crash scene, according to the Prince George's Police.

According to the Prince George's County Police Department, the Fort Washington police officer was on Indian Head Highway helping with a crash Friday morning when he was hit by a suspected drunk driver who hit the patrol car that then hit the officer.

FORT WASHINGTON, MD — A police officer has been hospitalized in serious condition after being hit by a driver Friday morning whose blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit, officials say.

According to the Prince George's County Police Department, the Fort Washington police officer was on Indian Head Highway helping with a crash Friday morning. He had activated his emergency lights and gotten out of his vehicle to place flares as a warning to other drivers that the road was closed due to the crash.

A driver heading southbound on Maryland Route 210 hit the police officer's vehicle and pushed the patrol car into the officer who then was thrown into a guardrail, according to the Prince George's County Police Department.
