Renowned Columnist Handcuffed In Bowie After Hoax: Report
Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. reportedly was handcuffed in Bowie after a hoax 911 call.
BOWIE, MD -- Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper columnist Leonard G. Pitts Jr. was handcuffed by police after a hoax 911 call, according to a report.
The Washington Post reports that Pitts says he was awakened early Sunday morning by police telling him to get out of his home in Bowie.
Police believe they received a false tip via 911, the report states.

Pitts, 61, won a Pulitzer in 2004 and currently writes a column for the Miami Herald that is syndicated nationwide.
Pitts said police told him they got a call saying someone was "being murdered" in the house, and they apologized to him afterward, according to the report.
