Rescued From A Parking Lot: Castor, Pollux Are Part Of 'Kitten Season' Looking For A Home
Meet these adorable adoptables from Prince George's County. These bonded buddies are ready for their forever home - could it be with you?

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Numerous adorable adoptables await their forever homes through The SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George's County, Inc., including the many kittens that have entered the system during "kitten season."
“Every spring, Prince George’s county is teeming with kittens, but this year is the worst yet. Due to limited spay/neuter during the pandemic and the mild winter we just experienced, we’re seeing more kittens on the streets than ever. It isn’t pretty. Outdoor kittens face hunger, disease, parasites and predators; as many as 75 percent of them will die before they are six months old. So every local rescue group and many shelters are working around the clock to save as many as possible," Tamela Terry, president of The SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George's County, Inc., told Patch.
Volunteers rescue countless kittens, hopefully with their moms, then treat their symptoms and feed them. They also socialize the kittens so they're wild or afraid of humans.

"When they are strong and healthy, we make sure they get vaccines and spay/neuter, and then they’re ready for a new home. Young kittens seldom do well alone (just Google 'single kitten syndrome'), so we like to place them in pairs or with adopters who already have a feline at home," Terry said. "Kitten season is always challenging, but when we all work together, we can make a huge difference.“
Castor and Pollux are 11-month-old littermates who were rescued from a parking lot in Oxon Hill where his foster mom was carrying out trap-neuter-return efforts. When they were first trapped, they scared and covered in fleas. But after their patient foster mom fed them, loved them and worked with them, the babies couldn't get enough human attention.

Castor happens to be very curious and loves to explore. He also is affection and loves to cuddle or nap on his foster's lap, often with his brother beside him. The brothers love to wrestle together, chase each other and play with cat toys. Pollux loves snuggles and playtime with his brother.
Anyone interested in adopting a pet with The SPCA/Humane Society of Prince George's County, Inc. should fill out a no-obligation adoption application.
