2 People Shot During Funeral Service at Frederick Church

Two people were shot after an "altercation" during a funeral service at Jackson Chapel United Methodist Church in Frederick Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office responded to Jackson Chapel at 5609 Ballenger Creek Pikeafter receiving calls reporting a shooting around 2:45 p.m. Sheriff's deputies found two people with gunshot wounds. They were taken to area hospitals. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time, but they are believed to be non-life threatening.

The shooter fled the scene before officers arrived on the scene.

"Although the suspect has not yet been located, the Sheriff’s Office does not believe this to be a random shooting," the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
