20-Acre Park To Be Created South Of White Marsh Mall

About 40 percent of the land bounded by Perry Hall and White Marsh Boulevards will remain open space.

I am announcing today that a 20-acre park will be created south of White Marsh Mall as part of the development agreement for this area, and about 40 percent of the land will remain as open space.

Those elements are part of master plan for this area, which includes land between Perry Hall Boulevard and White Marsh Boulevard. The plan was approved in 2016 after extensive negotiations between Village Development, which purchased 13 properties, and the South Perry Hall Boulevard Improvement Association.

Our office worked with the South Perry Hall Boulevard Improvement Association to push for the 20-acre park, the final connection of the Northeast Trail, and a new traffic signal on Perry Hall Boulevard.

Much of future development in this area will be senior-restricted. The remaining students would presently attend Overlea High School, Parkville Middle School, and Fullerton Elementary School. A new elementary school and middle school will be built in this area over the next three years.

This area has been zoned for high-density development since the 1980s. When it became part of the Fifth District in 2014, I worked with the community to reduce density and ensure that much of the development will be senior-restricted. I would like to thank those community leaders who worked very hard with this process.
