NOTTINGHAM, MD — A Baltimore County resident won $50,000 on a scratch-off she bought while shopping for Easter dinner. The Maryland Lottery announced the news on Wednesday.

The woman bought the ticket at Giant #2304, located in Nottingham at 8905 Belair Road. The winner lives in a small town north of Nottingham and buys a scratch-off whenever she's at a store that sells them.

She didn't scratch off her ticket until she returned home later that day. The $5 scratcher on a game called "$" revealed a match between one of the winning numbers and her number selections.

She confirmed that she won the $50,000 top prize by scanning the ticket on the Maryland Lottery app.

The victor has owned a tow-truck company for nearly 30 years. She plans to pay bills with her winnings.

Giant will collect a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the ticket.

The scratch-off $ went on sale in December 2023 with eight $50,000 top prizes. Three top prizes remain along with seven $5,000 prizes and others ranging from $5 to $1,000.
