UPDATE: LIVE: Perry Hall Girls, Boys Both Defeated in State Semifinals
The girls lost to Bethesda-Chevy Chase 0-3 and the boys lost to Walter Johnson 0-1.

UPDATE (9 p.m.)—The Perry Hall boys soccer team was defeated by Walter Johnson 0-1 Saturday night.
The girls were defeated earlier that evening by Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School 0-3.

UPDATE (12 p.m.)—After gaining the Class 4A North regional title in a match against Catonsville on Nov. 8, the Perry Hall girls soccer team will compete in the state semifinals Saturday evening.

The Gators are scheduled to play Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School at 5 p.m. at Richard Montgomery High School in Montgomery County.
They will be followed in the same location by the boys at 7:30 p.m., when they face No. 1 seed Walter Johnson High School.

Emerging out of a that nearly cost the team its postseason, boys has been on a winning spree since the start of November.
The team in the Class 4A North region final, 1-0, on Nov. 8, and in the Class 4A North region semifinal game, 2-1, on Nov. 5.
While the Gators' 2-1 on Nov. 1 opened the boys up to a playoff run, it also led to the announcement of an early season cancelation, a disciplinary action against players who after the final point.
Later that week, following a and an uproar from community members, Perry Hall High School Principal George Roberts and allowed the team to continue in the playoffs.
The winner of Saturday's match is one step closer to the state championship, scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 17-19 at UMBC Stadium.
The Perry Hall soccer team competed in the state semifinals in 1996, 1998 and 2002 and in the state finals in 1995, 2001, 2007 and 2008.
The program has never won a state championship, according to the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association.
