A Family Affair Children's Center

We have a full preschool program serving children ages two through five years old. We use creative curriculum which is a theme based, teacher created curriculum. We have a music teacher who comes once a week and we take several field trips a year. Our 2’s and 3’s Program In our 2’s and 3’s room we focus on helping children master self-care tasks such as toilet-training and using cups and forks as well as building social skills. We also lay the foundation for future academic learning with the basics such as the alphabet, colors, and basic math skills such as patterns and counting. Our 4’s and 5’s Program Our 4’s and 5’s program focuses on Kindergarten readiness. We cover all developmental areas including literacy, math concepts, science, social skills, music, and art all couched within a fun and interactive theme such as “Animals” or “The Beach.” Learning activities related to each of those topics are done throughout the week. Before and After School Care We provide before and after school care for children who attend Pine Grove or Harford Hills Elementary. We are open when schools are closed. We do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities such as: ○ Table games ○ Crafts ○ Legos ○ Outdoor play We also offer homework help, a morning and afternoon snack. Children are picked up and dropped off from the center by the BCPS bus system. Summer Camp We offer a school age summer camp for Kindergarten—5th graders. If there were a prize for most creative holiday marketing in Perry Hall—it might go to <a href="http://www.classicchimneysweep.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Classic Chimney Sweep &amp; Services</a> at 9119 Belair Road.  For the past month, a very sooty Santa has greeted passersby from atop the business.  A sign reads "Help Keep Santa Clean."  Worker Ralph Boarman said this was the first year they propped Santa on top of the house and it required building a "contraption" to hold him up. Mainly, it's a reminder not to fire up your chimney until it's been properly cleaned. "A lot of people only build fires on Christmas, and they wait way too long to get it check out," Boarman said.  Improperly cleaned chimneys can lead to chimney fires and excess smoke inside of homes, he said, and apparently, they can also get Santa awfully dirty.  Share your photos in the gallery, and tell us about your favorite holiday sights around the community.
