Volunteer Firefighters Need Donations As Calls Spike In White Marsh: Report
Volunteer firefighters seek more donations as costs and call volume spike, a report said. This station needs "tens of thousands of dollars."

NOTTINGHAM, MD — The White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company needs more donations from the community as its costs and call volume spike.
In an interview with WMAR, the fire station said its crews had 2,600 calls in 2024. They've already had nearly half that total in 2025, following a nationwide spike in demand for emergency medical services.
The station told WMAR it added two advanced life support ambulances, but it seeks more community assistance thanks to rising fuel, maintenance and equipment costs.

"We're the busiest volunteer station in the county and have a higher demand than some of the full-time departments in the area and we're volunteer-only," Paramedic and 2nd Lt. Zoe Shane told WMAR.
