Rockville Opens Cooling Centers

City recreation facilities offer a place to cool down for free.

The City of Rockville opened four cooling centers as temperatures climbed into the 90s and took effect on Wednesday.

Each center has designated areas that are open to the public for free during the regular business hours at the facilities. They are:

  • , 357 Frederick Ave. Open 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend hours.
  • , 1150 Carnation Drive. Open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend hours.
  • , 700 Fallsgrove Drive. Open 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend hours.
  • , 12920 Twinbrook Parkway. Open 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend hours.

Children using the cooling centers must be accompanied by an adult.

Residents who want to use amenities such as fitness rooms, computer labs or drop-in programs may do so after paying a daily admission fee.
