Driver Killed After Getting Out Of Car On I-270 Identified
Police have identified a man who was killed after getting out of his vehicle on I-270 in Bethesda Monday morning.
ROCKVILLE, MD — Maryland State Police have identified a man who was killed after getting out of his vehicle on Interstate 270 in Bethesda Monday morning.
Lloyd A. Gardiner, 57, of Silver Spring, was traveling northbound I-270, at Rockledge Boulevard, around 12:40 a.m. when he got into an accident and subsequently exited his vehicle to investigate, state troopers assigned to the Rockville Barrack said.
While outside, a second vehicle crashed into his vehicle, pushing it into him, police said.

The driver of the second vehicle remained on the scene, according to police. Gardiner's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.
