Easton Corbin to Headline Hometown Holidays

Country star's debut featured hits "A Little More Country Than That" and "Roll With It."

Country music star Easton Corbin will headline the City of Rockville's 24th annual Hometown Holidays, acting city manager Jennifer Kimball announced during Monday's City Council meeting.

The Memorial Day weekend street festival will be held May 26-28 in Rockville Town Center. Corbin will perform on the main stage on Sunday night.

Corbin's self-titled debut album, released in 2010, recorded two No. 1 singles on Billboard's country chart: "A Little More Country Than That" and the follow-up "Roll With It." His sophomore album is due out later this year.

"We're excited about having a country band," Kimball said. "It's been a while since we've had a country band headline Hometown Holidays."

The selection of a country artist for the weekend's showcase performance is a contrast in musical styles from 2011's scheduled headliner, funk legends George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. Hometown Holidays when Clinton was hospitalized days before P-Funk was scheduled to appear in Rockville. In the end, Taj Mahal and the Trio was tapped for Sunday's featured concert.

Hometown Holidays also will feature:

  • More than 40 free concerts and shows on eight stages
  • A Taste of Rockville from local restaurants
  • The Market Place Craft Festival
  • Entertainment and activities for young children and teens.
  • The 68th Memorial Day Ceremony and Parade on Monday.
