Patch Readers Ask: Drawing the Line on Park Road
A Patch reader's question gets a quick answer from the City of Rockville.

Lee Anne Blank asked. The City of Rockville listened. The result: A record time for turnaround on a Rockville Patch “Readers Ask” question.
Overnight, Lee Anne posted this on Rockville Patch’s Facebook page:
“Anyone know who to contact to try and get the lane lines and turn arrows put back on Park Road where it meets MD 355 by Rockville Metro? It is really dangerous and I see people go straight in the right turn only lane almost every day.”

Rockville Patch sent an email to the City of Rockville at 11:22 on Wednesday morning. Precisely an hour later Patch received this email response from Emad Elshafei, chief of the traffic and transportation division with the city’s Department of Public Works:
"Thank you for bringing this concern to our attention. This intersection is owned by the State Highway Administration, the signal is operated by the County, and the road is maintained by the City. So even though it sounds complicated, we will try to coordinate with the other agencies and possibly take the lead and install a lane line. The City has plans to resurface the road next year, if not this summer, so we might look into [a] temporary pavement marking solution. It should be noted that the main lane designation is set by displaying a "Right Only" sign, which is posted for this right lane. Also, there are actually two receiving lanes on Middle Lane, which reduces the chances of a crash if a driver ignores the sign and proceeds straight onto Middle Lane from the right-turn lane. Finally, we will inform our Police Department so they would include this location for enforcement as resources allow."
