'Significant' Snowstorm In Montgomery Co. Possible This Weekend

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Before the 2017-18 winter season began in Montgomery County, forecasters were calling for above average snowfall, and so far they've been dead wrong. But winter may be about to go out with a bang, as there is a possibility for a "significant" snowstorm this weekend, according to a report.

The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang states that weather models have been shifting toward a potential storm that could drop a lot of snow on Sunday and Monday -- although nothing is locked in yet.

"A high-impact storm capable of producing large amounts of snow, rain and wind, as well as coastal flooding, is a realistic scenario for Sunday and Monday," they state. "However, there is still the chance the storm will miss."

As is usually the case in March, more snow would fall north and west of D.C. where temperatures are likely to be cooler.

Unfortunately, right now things are so up in the air that CWG isn't even giving a range of possible snowfall totals. Once again, there's also the possibility that temperatures stay warm enough that it ends up being a rain event. So we'll have to watch the forecasts closely in the coming days.
