8407 Kitchen Bar Hires New Exec Chef, Doesn't Change Menu

Ed Witt came from 701 Restaurant in downtown Washington, DC, the Washington Post reports.

A new chef recently took the reigns at the popular downtown Silver Spring eatery 8407 Kitchen Bar, the Washington Post reports. Former executive chef Pedro Matamoros, best known for a lamb Bolognese and house-made charcuterie, was fired last November.

Ed Witt, 39, has worked in kitchens from New York to San Francisco before settling in the DC area three years ago, most recently to work with 701 Restaurant, according to the Post.

He said he sees similarities in the themes of the two restaurants—701 and 8407—and is happy with the more neighborhood-y feel of the latter.

“I’ve always been someone who wants to sit and eat without a tablecloth,” Witt told the Post.

For now, the menu at 8407 will stay the same, but Witt probably will be rolling out his own signature dishes in the coming months.
