Teen Shot On Way To School In Silver Spring (UPDATES)
UPDATES: A student was shot while walking to Paint Branch High School Monday morning, according to reports.

(Updated at 5:12 p.m. Monday): SILVER SPRING, MD — A teenager was shot while walking to a high school in Silver Spring Monday morning, according to reports.
Montgomery County Police said the 17-year-old male was shot near Paint Branch High School in the 13900 block of Old Columbia Pike at about 8:50 a.m. He then walked to the Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department after he was shot and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening conditions.
The victim told police he had been at the high school, but left to go to a nearby convenience store. He was walking back to the school when he heard a gunshot and realized he was struck, police said. Detectives said he suffered a graze wound to his cheek and ear.

Investigators believe that this was not a random event and there may be some prior association between the suspect(s) and the victim.
This shooting remains an open investigation and detectives are working to confirm additional details, which will be released once they have been confirmed.
