Car Crashes Into Traffic Light, Overturns In Silver Spring
ALERT: The intersection of 16th Street and East West Highway is closed after a collision and is expected to stay closed through rush hour.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A car overturned after it crashed into a traffic light box in Silver Spring Friday morning, officials said.
The single-vehicle crash occurred at about 4:45 a.m. on 16th Street and East West Highway, Montgomery County Fire & Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said.
The car crashed into a traffic light and overturned. The signal control box was destroyed in the accident.

The intersection of 16th Street and East West Highway remains closed as of 12:30 pm. The intersection is anticipated to be closed into the evening rush hour because of downed wires, Montgomery County Police said.
Officials closed northbound and southbound lanes.

No one was transported to the hospital, Piringer said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
