Christmas 2017: Silver Spring Holiday Event Guide

SILVER SPRING, MD — Lovely weather for a sleigh ride together, wouldn't you say? The holiday season is upon us, and there's no shortage of things to do in Silver Spring and its surrounding areas, no matter what your budget!

Many of these events require registration, and some are very popular, which is why we suggest calling ahead. We'll keep adding to the list as new events crop up, so checking back frequently for updates.

Here are some events happening in the next few weeks:

• SILVERCHIPS Silent Auction: This silent auction is held by Montgomery Blair High School's student newspaper. 5-10 p.m. Dec. 4 at Lincoln's Bar-B-Que, 931 Ellsworth Dr.
• Around The World Holiday Bazaar: Enjoy arts and crafts, unique gifts and cuisine and cocktails from all around the globe. 5-1o p.m. Dec. 5 at Silver Spring Civic Building.
• Silver Spring Christmas Market and Holiday Craft Show: Vendors with arts and crafts, jewelry, banked goods, beauty care and more. 12-4 p.m. Dec. 9 at Veterans Plaza.
• Fenton Street Market: The "Holidaze Market" will feature crafts and culture from 12-6 p.m. Dec. 10 at Ellsworth Drive.
• Holiday Fair And Puppet Show: Head over to Gwendolyn E. Coffield Community Recreation Center at 2450 Lyttonsville Rd. for a day of family-friendly holiday festivities. Event goes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 16.
• Garden of Lights: Step into a magical winter wonderland illuminated with more than one million dazzling colorful lights shaped into hand-crafted, original art forms of flowers, animals and other natural elements. Open until Jan. 1. Hours are 5:30-9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 5:30-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 1800 Glenallan Ave., Wheaton.
