SILVER SPRING, MD — Montgomery County recorded 47 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, its lowest single-day tally since July 6, data from the Maryland Health Department showed.

The latest figure pushes the county's confirmed total to 19,646. Meanwhile, one more person has died from COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the coronavirus. That brings the local death toll to 777.

The fatality count does not include the 39 others whose deaths were linked to the virus, but never confirmed by a lab test. They are considered "probable deaths" — and will not be added to the official total until a lab can confirm them.
