Drug Charges Filed After Suspicious Package Delivered To Neighbor
Two people were arrested on drug possession charges after a suspicious package with drugs was delivered to a neighbor in Silver Spring.
SILVER SPRING, MD — Two people were arrested on drug possession charges after a suspicious package was delivered to a neighbor, who reported to police that it contained illegal drugs, authorities said.
Kalani Ayi Abulfata Ariyibi-Sani, 22,of Silver Spring, was charged with possession of drugs and a firearm on Thursday. Montgomery County police officers were called to the 1300 block of Alderton Drive in Silver Spring by a homeowner who reported receiving a package containing drugs.
Video surveillance footage showed people with flashlights searching in the homeowner’s yard, according to a police news release. Officers spotted two male suspects and one female suspect in the yard.

One of the men ran from the scene. The second male suspect, Ariyibi-Sani, was found with a loaded Sam Diego Privateer 7.62 AR-style pistol under his jacket when he was taken into custody, a police news release said.
When officers searched Ariyibi-Sani during his arrest, they found more than 100 Xanax pills, two digital scales, marijuana, and a bottle of Promethazine, which is used as an antihistamine and anesthetic.

Police said Ariyibi-Sani was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with multiple drug and firearm charges.
The female suspect was determined to be in possession of drugs. She was also taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and charged with possession. Authorities did not release her name.
