Freebies For First Day Of Spring Around Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, MD — Tuesday, March 20 is the first day of spring, and that means free frozen dessert deals are going on.

That is, if you don't mind getting a frozen dessert in the cold winter storm.

Rita's Ice and Dairy Queen are serving up freebies in and around Silver Spring for those willing to brave the ugly weather. See more details about the freebies below.

Rita's: For the 26th year, Rita's Ice is marking the start of spring with one free Italian ice per person. Customers can also upgrade to a gelato with vanilla, chocolate, cotton candy or mint custard for $1. Rita's Italian Ice is located at 13621 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring. Tuesday hours are noon-9 p.m.

Dairy Queen: Dairy Queen is offering a coupon for a free small, vanilla cone for the first day of spring at participating, non-mall locations. The coupon is good all day Tuesday, March 20, and the limit is one per person. Go to the website for a copy of the coupon, as well. The closest Dairy Queen is in Rockville at 2019 Veirs Mill Rd. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
