Get Fit for Free on Small Business Saturday in Silver Spring
A working professional turned wellness coach, the owner of Feel Good Fitness shares what it's like running a business in Silver Spring.

After 20 years in the corporate world as a communications professional, Feel Good Fitness owner Susan Silver left all that behind to pursue her passion of exercise physiology, and give back to the community by opening her own fitness and medical exercise studio.
To celebrate its recent opening in downtown Silver Spring, Feel Good Fitness will offer free, 30-minute appointments on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 29, to help community members find therapeutic solutions that address at least one tight, weak or imbalanced area of their bodies. The day is a national promotion that encourages residents to shop with locally owned businesses.

A. We use individual, personalized fitness and medical exercise services in a private studio setting to help people who want to feel better in their bodies yet are struggling with changing conditions. These can be the changes that accompany aging or those associated with past injuries or surgeries, general aches & pains (i.e., backs, knees, hips) or a medical condition such as high blood pressure, arthritis, fibromyalgia and others.
Q. Physical injuries aside, who can benefit from using your services the most?

A. People who might not get what they need in a big health club chain, or who are not comfortable in the big gym environment, often come to us for a movement plan tailored to their needs and lifestyles.
Q. What’s the number one piece of advice you give your customers about getting back or staying in shape?
A. One (unfortunately) well-kept secret in this business is that people don’t need to attend a gym every day to feel better and be healthier--there’s plenty they can do at home!
Q. What’s it like running a studio in Silver Spring?
A. I love the fact that I can have this studio in a vibrant downtown area, yet still walk home to my quiet residential street just a few blocks away. I can easily meet business colleagues and friends for meals, run everyday errands, shop at the Farmers Market, see a movie and still not have to drive anywhere!
Q. How can patrons sign up to participate in your Small Business Saturday promotion?
A. Customers can make their free. 30-minute appointments here.
