News in Review: The Fillmore Construction Moves Forward and Gas Leak Causes Minor Evacuation

This week, Patch reported on a gas leak that forced residents to evacuate, a balcony contest that enlivened an apartment complex, the main post office preparing to close and relocate, a new blog focused on progressive politics in Maryland along with it's creator, and crime in your neighborhood.

1. The news of the closing of the United States Post Office Silver Spring Main Office Location on Second Avenue shocked customers Tuesday as they were underwhelmed by alternative options.

2.Construction on The Fillmore moves forward as workers are hammering away on the new music venue  to prepare it for the grand opening performance showcasing Mary J. Blige on September 15. This year's line up includes performances by 80’s stalwarts Blondie, Cheap Trick and the Psychedelic Furs.
