Arlington Making Progress On New High School
The district announced that the third of three construction phases was just completed.

ARLINGTON, MA — Superintendent of Schools Dr. Elizabeth Homan announced that construction of the new high school building is complete. The new building began construction in the fall of 2020 with the goal of opening for the 2025 to 2026 school year.
The final phase of construction centered around the development of a 16,000 square foot main gymnasium with bleacher seating and wooden floor, two smaller gyms with rubber floors and a rock climbing wall, a fitness room, lockers and athletic training facilities. New program spaces for the district’s LABBB Educational Collaborative were also built, and will be put to use immediately. The organziation works with seven local school districts to support students with a variety of learning challenges.
Other features of the new structure include a Black Box Theater and an outdoor amphitheater.
The fourth and final phase of work involves the destruction of the old gymnasium and the Downs residential complex in order to implement two synthetic turf athletic fields, a road to allow for rear access, and parking facilities.
