ARLINGTON, MA — The town has named resident Julie Wayman as its newest Deputy Town Manager and Finance Director.

Wayman was appointed by Town Manager Jim Feeney, and her responsibilities now include preparing the town’s budgets, measuring departments’ performances, and putting together long-term financial plans. Wayman’s new position is a direct promotion from her previous position of Town Treasurer, which she had served in for the past two years. Her civil work in Arlington dates back to 2016 when she became the town’s Community Development Block Grant Administrator. She began her work in the Town Manager’s office in 2019.

"Julie is exceptionally well-suited for this position. She has demonstrated outstanding financial leadership and deep institutional knowledge during her tenure with the Town,” Feeney said. “Her track record in budget management, collaborative approach with departments, and commitment to fiscal responsibility make her the ideal choice to lead Arlington's financial operations."
