Arlington Police Warn Against Text Scam

ARLINGTON, MA — The police department is warning against a text message scam reportedly circulating throughout town.

Long messages are being received by 13-digit numbers in which the scammer claims to be from Amazon. The message claims that a product previously ordered by the recipient that is now being recalled. It provides a link that it claims can be used to receive a refund for the recalled product. The department emphasized that the link should not be clicked on and no personal information should be provided. Legitimate recalls and refund-related information from Amazon appears in email form.
