Arlington Teen Struck By Car Raises Traffic Safety Concerns: Report

The Arlington High School sustained injuries that will reportedly take months to recover from.

ARLINGTON, MA—The town is developing new designs for intersections in the Arlington Heights area after a teenager was struck by a car recently and other recent pedestrian accidents, according to a report from Your Arlington.

The 16-year-old boy has sustained injuries after being hit while crossing the intersection on the corner of Park Avenue and Oakland Avenue on Friday, Feb. 7. According to police, the collision happened as a result of a driver who attempted to pass another vehicle that was stopped to allow the teen to cross.

The Arlington Police Department has had an increased presence in these areas during crucial hours of the day, however residents feel it is not sufficient enough. In December, the town announced The Park Avenue Construction Project, which has the goal of redeveloping three intersections to make them safer.
