Arlington Unveiling New Mountain Biking Area

The Parks and Recreation Department facilitated the project.

ARLINGTON, MA — The town’s Department of Parks and Recreation announced that a grand opening of a new mountain biking area on Hill’s Hill will take place on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m.

The development process for the area began as far back as 2021 when the Parks and Recreation Commission hired Powder Horn Trail Company to conduct a feasibility study. In 2023, Town Meeting members voted to allocate $400,000 in Community Preservation Act funds to have landscape architectural and engineering firm Weston and Sampson design the trail.

The finished product includes a dirt pump track, a wooden wall-ride, a progressive A/B jump line, and beginner skills features all nestled into the trees behind the Ed Burns Arena adjacent to Summer Street. The launch event will include a ribbon cutting ceremony and refreshments such as donuts and coffee.
