Truck Crashes Into Beverly Hale Street Home, 1 Hospitalized: Reports (patch.com) — Beverly residents are waking up to major damage at a multifamily home on Hale Street after a truck crashed through the porch and into the first floor Tuesday night, sending one person to the hospital. Two people were in the vehicle, crews worked overnight to remove the truck, and investigators are still determining what caused the crash.
   

2. Beverly Awarded $850K MA Housing Rehabilitation Grant (patch.com) — Beverly has secured an $850,000 state grant to rehabilitate 10 to 12 homes for low- and moderate-income residents, improving safety, accessibility, and energy efficiency. Partnering with Habitat for Humanity of the North Shore, the city is restarting its Housing Rehabilitation Program and will hold a public hearing on Jan. 15 at City Hall to shape future CDBG-funded efforts.
   

3. 105-Year-Old Massachusetts Veteran Believed to Be Nation's Oldest Marine (military.com) — A 105-year-old Beverly resident, World War II Marine veteran Louis Tanzer, is believed to be the nation’s oldest living Marine and recently celebrated his milestone birthday surrounded by family, officials, and neighbors. Having moved to Beverly in 1960, he’s now being honored by the Beverly Veterans Council and supporters nationwide for his service, resilience, and humor.
   

4. Swampscott appoints new Finance Director, Town Clerk (itemlive.com) — Beverly residents may notice a familiar face heading to nearby Swampscott, as Beverly Assistant City Clerk Kathleen Dupont has been appointed Swampscott’s new town clerk. Swampscott’s Select Board also promoted longtime town treasurer Patrick Luddy to finance director, filling two key municipal roles after an extended search and drawing praise for both hires’ experience and professionalism.
