BROCKTON, MA — A one-story building housing three businesses in Brockton is likely "a total loss" after a massive fire very early Thursday morning, according to multiple reports and fire officials.

The Brockton Fire Department confirmed on Facebook around 2:30 a.m. that there was "heavy fire" at 880 Main Street, which contains Khalil's Kitchen, Studio Sky Beauty Salon, Garcia Grocery and Tropical. Reports say the fire began to burn around an hour earlier.

Minutes after the first update, the department added that the left side of the building was bowing out and the roof had collapsed in several areas.

Two people escaped from the building's basement, and one firefighter was taken to the hospital with a leg injury, WCVB reported, citing the fire chief.

The building is "probably a total loss," Fire Chief Brian Nardelli said, according to The Enterprise. "There's a good possibility we'll have to tear it down."
