Brockton Native Fights Florida Gator To Save Puppy: Report

An alligator snatched the woman's Shih Tzu puppy during a walk but she pulled him back to safety in a bloody battle, NBC Boston reported.

LAND O'LAKES, FL — A Brockton native saved her puppy from an alligator that snatched it up during a walk near a Florida creek, NBC Boston reported.

Danie Wright, the daughter of a Brockton police officer, suffered lacerations to her arm in the bloody battle with the gator but her 4-month-old Shih Tzu puppy, Dax, emerged unscathed, the network's story said.

"I wasn't going to listen to my dog get eaten, and see it and hear it," Wright, 53, said, according to NBC Boston. "I'd end up in a psych ward if I went through that."

Wright and Dax fought the alligator for survival in the creek, the story said.

"I started punching and elbowing and kicking," Wright told NBC Boston. "I have no idea in what order, but I was like, 'Somehow, you have got to get your arm out of this alligator's mouth."
