Stoughton/Brockton, Foxboro hockey open season with 15-goal battle (enterprisenews.com) — Brockton high school hockey fans saw the Stoughton/Brockton Knight Boxers open their season in a wild 15-goal showdown with Foxboro on Monday night. Despite building a 6-2 lead behind goals from players like Gavin Summers, the co-op squad surrendered a huge Warriors comeback, falling 9-6 after Foxboro’s Nico Chiaradonna scored seven times.
   

3. Saving Sprout: A community rallies to bring a malnourished puggle back from the brink (bostonglobe.com) — A severely malnourished puggle named Sprout is recovering thanks to round-the-clock care from the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts and strong community donations. The dog’s alleged owner from Taunton faces an animal-cruelty charge and is scheduled for arraignment in Brockton District Court, while more than 60 people have already expressed interest in adopting Sprout once she’s healthy.
   

4. The Latino Equity Fund announces $600,000 in grants to 24 Latinx-led and Latinx-serving organizations (massnonprofit.org) — A Brockton-based group, Brockton Workers Alliance, is among 24 Latinx-led and Latinx-serving organizations sharing $600,000 in new grants from the Latino Equity Fund at the Boston Foundation. The funding focuses on basic needs and economic mobility programs across Greater Boston, potentially expanding services and support available to Latinx workers and families in Brockton and nearby communities.
