Investigators believe that the car, a 2011 Nissan Altima, was traveling south when it left the road and slammed into a tree in the 700 block of North Main Street, officials said.

The Norfolk District Attorney's Office added that the cause of the crash is under investigation and no charges have been filed yet.

"We learned that a second member of our school community succumbed to injuries sustained in a car crash which occurred in Randolph on Tuesday night," Brockton Public Schools Superintendent Michael P. Thomas said in a statement shared with Patch Thursday afternoon.

“The young man was a 2023 graduate of Brockton High School and the older brother of the rising 10th grade student who died in the crash,” Thomas continued, in part. “It is difficult to express the profound sense of loss felt within our city. These were two young people whose positive influence extended far beyond the walls of our school building. We will come together as a community to support their loved ones and honor their lives.”

Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey said in a news release that he "[joins] Randolph Police in extending my condolences to young Mr. Boston’s family on this tragic loss of life."

There has been a GoFundMe fundraiser organized by Makhi and Terry Boston's aunt to cover their memorial services and establish a scholarship fund.

"Terry and Makhi Boston the most caring, loving and genuine souls were taken from us far too soon. Nothing can prepare any of us for something as unimaginable as this," the boys' aunt, Juli Cooper, wrote. "These Kings deserved so much more life."
