Brockton's Good Samaritan Hospital Graded 'B' In Safety
The nonprofit Leapfrog group released its bi-annual round of hospital safety grades. Brockton's Good Samaritan Hospital got a "B" grade.
BROCKTON, MA — Officials at Good Samaritan Hospital said they are working to improve patients' safety and experience, as the nonprofit Leapfrog Group released its bi-annual report of hospital safety grades. Brockton's Good Samaritan Hospital received the grade of "B" — it scored lower than its previously-held grade of "A." Leapfrog released its hospital safety grades on Thursday.
Good Samaritan Hospital scored higher than average in preventing infections, practices to prevent errors, and having enough qualified nurses and specially trained doctors.
Its lowest scores were in certain surgery complications, communication about medicine, bed sores, patients' communication with doctors and nurses and responsiveness of hospital staff.

Hospital officials said they are working to get the hospital's safety ranking back up to "A."
"At Good Samaritan, patient safety is our top priority and we pride ourselves on keeping our community healthy," stated officials at Good Samaritan Hospital. "We are not satisfied with our B grade, and we have been advancing quality initiatives — including investing in technology — to enhance the overall patient experience to get us back to our goal of an A grade. Our providers and staff look forward to continuing to provide professional, safe and compassionate care to our community."

Good Samaritan Hospital was graded "A" in safety last spring and in the fall of 2018. Before that, it had been graded "C" in spring 2018 and fall 2017. It held the grade of "B" in safety between spring 2016 and spring 2017, according to Leapfrog.
