Driver In Fatal Drugged Driving Crash Has Long Record: Prosecutor
Anthony Hathaway was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for next week.

BRIDGEWATER, MA — The Whitman man accused of killing a motorcyclist in a drugged driving incident has a lengthy record, according to prosecutors.
Anthony Hathaway, 29, of Whitman, was arraigned in Brockton District Court Friday and pleaded not guilty to drugged driving, motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence of drugs, endangering a child while operating under the influence of drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violation.
Authorities say Hathaway was trying to pass a vehicle while driving on Route 18 in Bridgewater when he struck a motorcycle operated by 71-year-old Richard Silva of Brockton head-on. Silva was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say that Hathaway was under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash. A 7-year-old child in the car at the time of the crash was not injured, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's office.
A prosecutor in court said that Hathaway's record includes 27 convictions, 45 probation violations in less than 10 years, and a history of drug use.
