BROCKTON, MA — New England Patriots' quarterback Mac Jones took the opportunity to get to know a Massachusetts community during the off-season.

The second-year Patriot took some time Tuesday to shoot hoops with members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro South before presenting the group with a $100,000 donation.

Before presenting the check, Jones was given a tour of the grounds, taking time to hand out Nerf foam footballs to kids while taking pictures and offering advice.

"Seeing all of y'all together, hanging out and having fun, playing sports and learning, it's really awesome. I'm excited to build this relationship with you guys. I'm going to be here hopefully for a long time and have a lot of chances to come and hang out, play, whatever you guys want to do," Jones told the crowd of boys and girls. "I'm going to be back and we're going to have a lot of time to spend together."

As schools navigated the pandemic and hybrid learning, some kids relied on the Boys & Girls Club programs for meals, and the organization made it a point to continue serving them regardless, a spokesperson said.

"Time is one thing you can always invest into people, and if you're fortunate enough, you want to give back financially," Jones told WBZ-TV during the visit. "It's a big donation and I'm blessed to be able to do that."

Jones was also presented with some gifts of his own, receiving a homemade gift basket and a thank you collage picture of BGCMS members that the kids made just for him. Jones told the kids he would hang it in his house to always remember this special day.
