Guest speakers from Tides Hospice will discuss anticipatory grief and managing the holidays, but space is limited and advance registration is required.

Massachusetts man accused of animal cruelty: His puppy ‘Sprout' was severely malnourished (bostonherald.com) — A criminal complaint in Brockton District Court charges a Taunton man with animal cruelty after police say his puppy was found severely underweight during a West Bridgewater traffic stop. The dog, Sprout, is now recovering at the Animal Protection Center of Southeastern Massachusetts, which is seeking donations to support her ongoing care.

Double takes are common with 14 sets of twins at Angelo Elementary (enterprisenews.com) — Angelo Elementary in Brockton is having fun with a rare situation: 14 different sets of twins roaming the halls this school year. Students gathered in the library to talk about what it’s like growing up as a twin, sharing playful moments and stories with staff and classmates.

Needham History: Giovanni Castano (needhamlocal.org) — Local art and history fans may appreciate that noted painter and gallery owner Giovanni Castano spent part of his childhood in Brockton before becoming a prominent Needham artist. A new ceramic plaque of his snow-covered Needham home has just joined the Needham History Center’s collection, complementing his well-known “From My Studio Window” painting.

Greater Boston PCA Donates $35K to Boston-area Charities (high-profile.com) — A Brockton homeless shelter run by Father Bill’s is among seven organizations sharing $35,000 in holiday-season donations from the Greater Boston Plumbing Contractors Association. The gift supports shelters, food programs, and health services across Greater Boston, including Quincy and Boston, aiming to help residents facing homelessness and hunger as winter sets in.
