BROCKTON, MA — Thirty-four people were arrested Tuesday morning during a drug sweep in Brockton that involved multiple teams.

The arrests were part of a two-month-long operation between multiple agencies that were designed to target opioid and fentanyl drug dealers in Brockton. Over 40 people were identified and 34 were arrested.

"This morning, thus far, 13 arrest teams have made 34 arrests, all without incident. Two illegally possessed firearms have also been seized this morning," Massachusetts State Police Col. Christopher Mason said in a news conference.

"People are dying because of the drug activities here in the City of Champions and beyond," Brockton's Mayor Robert Sullivan said before thanking state and local police.

Mason said the bust should serve as a warning to drug dealers: "The Brockton police department and the law enforcement community have no tolerance for your predatory activity."

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz said they hope the operation results in less crime, fewer overdoses, and fewer criminals on the streets.

The people arrested Tuesday will be arraigned in Brockton District Court.
