75-Year-Old Woman Kidnapped From Outside Restaurant, Man Arrested: Cops

The Providence man posed as a valet to trick the woman, police said.

PEMBROKE, MA — A Providence man posed as a valet to trick a 75-year-old woman into getting in his car, then kidnapped her and drove her to Rhode Island, police said.

Michael Guerrero, 36, was arrested last week in Rhode Island and extradited to Massachusetts Monday morning, the Pembroke Police Department said in a media release.

Guerrero was charged with carjacking, kidnapping, indecent assault and Battery of a person over 60, assault with a dangerous weapon of a person over 60 and threats to commit a crime, according to the release.

The woman had been at the Ninety Nine Restaurant on Church Street and returned after hours Sept. 14 to retrieve personal belongings, the release said.

"While attempting to access the front door, she was approached by (Guerrero), who falsely claimed to be a valet or offered to drive her to the rear entrance, stating it would be open," the release said.

The woman got in the front passenger seat and Guerrero drove her to Providence, according to the release.

The Pembroke Police Department published a photo of the suspected kidnapper on Facebook and, within 24 hours, "received information from four local restaurants indicating that the suspect had been a patron at each of their establishments on the same evening," the release said.
