Whitman Mother Charged In Death Of Baby Daughter

WHITMAN, MA — A Whitman woman was arrested in connection to the death of her 2-year-old daughter. Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz said Shaniqua Leonard, 29, was taken into custody in Brockton on a charge of reckless endangerment of a child.

Emergency personnel responded to a 911 call at a Washington Street early the morning of Dec. 28. Lyric Farrell was found unconscious with several injuries, including a head injury, according to WBZ's I-Team.

Farrell was brought to Brockton Hospital and then Boston Children's Hospital. She was taken off life support and died Dec. 31.

The Chief Medical Examiner's office has not yet determined the manner and cause of death.
