Brookline School Playground Renovations Delayed Due To Funding Issue: Report
Lincoln School serves students between kindergarten and eighth grade.
BROOKLINE, MA — Renovations to an elementary school playground that some feel are much-needed have been delayed indefinitely, according to a report from Brookline News.
The Lincoln School at 19 Kennard Road was slated for a playground upgrade in the future, however $970,000 in Capital Improvement Plan funds that were originally meant to kickstart a playground reconstruction project have been moved to and remain in a contingency fund that aims to close the town’s budget gap.
The school’s Extended Day Program Director Brynn Dizack said she has had to call emergency services five times in the past year due to students being injured on the playground. She highlighted the monkey bars as the most dangerous portion of the playground that needs repairs.
