Brookline Woman Sentenced To 21 Months Prison For Stealing $650K From Medical Company
Kathleen Libby is accused of using money that appeared to be going to pay for surgical supplies to buy luxury and travel items.
BROOKLINE, MA — A Brookline woman who pleaded guilty to wire fraud after being accused of stealing more than $650,000 from the medical device company in Brookline where she worked and using the money to buy items from Louis Vuitton, Bloomingdales, Best Buy, Target and travel-related websites was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said Kathleen Libby, 40, embezzled the money over several years, diverting money that appeared to be used to pay for "medical surgical supplies" to her own accounts.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said Libby also placed two of her relatives on the medical practice's payroll and used its credit cards for her own personal benefit.

In addition to prison time, Libby was also sentenced to pay restitution and is subject to two years of supervised release after her jail time.
Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy and Jodi Cohen, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division made the announcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mackenzie A. Queenin of the Criminal Division prosecuted the case.
