The car began smoking and sparking after a rat's nest under the hood caught fire.

BROOKLINE, MA — A resident’s car caught fire while driving on the Mass Pike due to an unexpected cause, according to a report from Boston 25 News.

The woman was flagged down by another driver on her way to Connecticut due to sparks and heavy smoke emitting from her vehicle. Prior to that, the woman testified that a strange and strong smell had been emanating from the car prior to stopping.
