Woman Attempts To Steal Car From Mechanic: Brookline Police Logs
A woman was arrested after police said she tried to steal a car from a mechanic in Brookline.

BROOKLINE, MA — Police respond to dozens of emergency calls each day. The following reports are taken from the public police log and the Brookline Police blog. It's important to note that just because someone reports an incident to police doesn't mean that's the way it happened.
Monday, Jan. 13.
Shoplifting: Nathaniel Starling, 56, of Hyde Park was arrested at 1:38 p.m. and charged with shoplifting, after security officials at TJ Maxx on Harvard Street reported him.
Burglaries: Michael Wallace, 52, of Malden, and Mark Burhoe, 43, of Charlestown, were arrested and charged with three counts of breaking and entering during the night, larceny from building, vandalism to property and conspiracy in connection to the Anatolia restaurant. He was also charged with two counts of breaking and entering during the night, possession of burglarious instruments, malicious destruction fo property worth more than $1,200, larceny from a building and conspiracy in connections with a break in at Washington Square Tavern. Tuesday, Jan. 14
Swerving: Police arrested Giles Niles, 46, of Dorchester and charged him with operating a car on a suspended license. Police said they stopped Niles, whow as driving a Chevy Tahoe and swerving over the center line and into the bike lane on Harvard Street around 2: a.m. When they pulled him over, they found he had a suspended license.

Wednesday, Jan. 15
Attempted: Siyeeda Ross, 25, of Boston, was arrested and charegd around 1 p.m. with attempting to commit a crime, to wit larceny of a motor vehichle, after a Midas employee called to report suspicious activity on Boylston Street. A woman and two men told the employee they were with Get Around system and were supposed to be picking up a vehicle there. The employee called the company, but was told the company didn't send them and called police. When police arrived they found out Ross had first given the Midas employee a fake name. The employee told Police he was extra cautious because several Get Around cars had been stolen from car shops in the area recently under a similar guise.
Thursday, Jan 16
Strip Search: Caleb Bickford, 35, of Marson Mills, was arrested and charged on a probation violation warrant out of Yarmouth and a straight warrant out of Westborough for failure to appear in court, after staff at an area hospital reported that a patient had obtained narcotics and they believed he was hiding them on his body. Staff performed a strip search and found the drugs.
Shoplifting: James Cox, 51, of Allston was arrested and charged with shoplifting, after security officials from TJ Maxx reported Cox just before noon. Employees said they saw him taking jackets off the sales rack before he attempted to run out the front door.
Car break in: An officer took a report for larceny from a motor vehicle. Police said sometime between 7:45 a.m. and noon, a backpack with shoes and a laptop were stolen from the trunk of the vehicle.
