One lucky skunk; one unlucky police officer.

CAMBRIDGE, MA —There's a saying that no good deed goes unpunished. Monday morning around 6:30 a.m., a Cambridge police officer felt that more than many when he attempted to rescue a skunk walking around in circles with a yogurt cup stuck on its head at the Danehy Dog Park. With the skunk clearly in distress, Cambridge Police Officer Dan McGinty "heroically" stepped up and attempted to pull the cup off of the skunk, according to the department.

"While we are happy to report that the skunk was freed and uninjured, Officer McGinty’s good deed led to a stinky punishment (and multiple showers)," according to Cambridge police spokesperson Jeremy Warnick.

Perhaps sensing what was about to happen, the department captured the whole thing on video for your enjoyment or commiseration.
