Construction Accident At MIT Leaves 1 Dead: DA
A 41-year-old male from Taunton died after some construction materials fell on him while he was working at a new MIT dorm in Cambridge.

CAMBRIDGE, MA — One construction worker died and two others were injured after an accident at a MIT dorm under construction, the District Attorney's office confirmed Thursday night.
Thursday, around 3 p.m. Cambridge Fire, MIT Police, Cambridge Police, Pro EMS and Inspectional Services responded to a report of a multiple injuries at the site of a dorm under construction on Vassar Street.
"The preliminary investigation suggests that a crew was working on a lower floor when material collapsed on top of workers from an above floor," according to a release from District Attorney Marian Ryan's office.

Three workers were transported to a hospital where one man, a 41-year-old male from Taunton, later died. The two other construction workers sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Vassar Street was blocked off from Mass Ave to Audrey Street for some time.

The case has been referred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner who will determine the cause of death.
The Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the MIT Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
The death is not suspicious, according to authorities.
