CAMBRIDGE, MA — Several calls came into 911 Monday afternoon reporting a jumper on the train bridge that sits alongside the Boston University Bridge. But when officials got there, it turns out it was just a misunderstanding, said State Police. The jumper wasn't actually a jumper, but a teen looking for some place quiet to sun himself, said police.

The 15-year-old was just looking for a spot to enjoy the sun on the steel-plate girder railroad bridge, said State Police, who let him off with a warning.

The Grand Junction Railroad Bridge crosses under the BU Bridge and was built in 1927. The bridge is federal property, so it's illegal to deface it. It was closed in 2012 because of its poor shape and reopened only to close again the following year.

Last year there was some talk of re-purposing the bridge when MassDOT charged the Independent Review Team with evaluating three designs for the Allston I-90 Intermodal Project.
