5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: July 10

The Danforth Art will be free today thanks to the Highland Street Foundation.

1. The Danforth Art museum will be free today for all thanks to the Highland Street Foundation’s Free Fridays summer program.

Click here to see what the Framingham museum has planned today. There ar special activities planned betwen 10 a.m.and 4 p.m.

Other museums free today include: The New Bedford Whaling Museum, the Cape Cod Maritime Museum, the Edward M.Kennedy Institute, the International Volleyball Hall of Fame, the Children’s Museum at Holyoke and the New England Genealogical Society.

2. The Framingham Rotary Club’s carnival continues tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Framingham State University parking lot at the corner of Salem End and Maynard roads. Click here for more details.

There is no admission charge, but tickets required for the rides. Food is an additional cost. Event parking is available at the University parking lot on Maple Street. Shuttle buses will provide transportation to and from the carnival. There is no charge for the parking and shuttle bus.

Police are warning carnival goers not to cross Route 9 on foot to get to the carnival.

3. The main Framingham Library will host its second Brown Bag Learning Series event today at noon featuring Amy Moses from Mystic Fitness Yoga Studio. Today’s hour-long free event will focus on stand and stretch yoga.

4. Amazing Things Arts Center hosts the Dodo Orchestra tonight at 8.

The orchestra is a “unique retro-world-jazz ensemble that performs original French, German, Italian and Russian retro, samba, Brazilian music, tango, argentine tango music. The orchestra fuses tango and samba, swing and chanson, balkanica and reggae, creating a delicious urban cocktail, says the Framingham venue.

Tickets are still available at $20, $19 for students and seniors, $17 for Amazing members and $10 for children under age 12.

Tonight is the Dodo Orchestra’s first show in New England this season.

5. The band Metro will perform tonight as part of the Framingham Parks & Recreation’s summer concert series. Music starts at 6:30 p.m. on the Framingham Centre Common. Bring your chairs and blankets. Food available for purchase at the Common.
