Framingham Approves New Fire Station, Preserve Wayside Forest, Tax Pot: Special Town Meetings Results

Town meeting members voted yes to a new fire station.

FRAMINGHAM, MA—Town meeting members voted to approve a new fire station for nearly $5.8 million in Saxonville and to purchase and conserve the land known as Wayside Forest for $343,500.

Both Fall Special Town Meetings took place on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 7:30 p.m. at Nevins Hall, Memorial Building. Special Town Meeting 1 has 15 warrant articles, including those regarding appropriation of mitigation funds, Wayside Conservation Restriction, Old Connecticut Path Easements, Green Communities Funding and the commemoration of 317 years as a town.

  • Article 4: Rescind and authorize unissued borrowings: passed

  • Article 7: FY2018: general fund budget adjustments: passed
  • Article 8: FY2018 capital budget appropriation-replacement fire station:passed
  • Article 9: Wayside forest conservation restriction: passed
  • Article 10: Transfer of 150 Irving St. from schools to town: passed
  • Article 11: Street acceptances: passed
  • Article 12: Relocation of drain easement 103 Second St.: refer back
  • Article 13: 492 Old Connecticut Path drain easements: passed
  • Article 14: Resolutions of clean energy reductions/Green energy funding: passed
  • Article 15: Resolution commemorating Framingham as a town of 317 years: passed

Special Town Meeting 2 includes two warrant articles regarding the purchase of the Jonathan Maynard Building. Meeting members voted to release the right of first refusal.

Special Town Meeting 3 took place on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 p.m. also at Nevins Hall, and focused on warrant articles related to taxing recreational marijuana. The vote to Adopt Local Sales Tax for Marijuana Sales passed 110-5.
