Framingham Dispatcher On Leave, Allegedly Tells Mom To Drive Baby To Hospital

The town is investigating after a parent said she called 911 when her baby was having trouble breathing.

FRAMINGHAM, MA—A Framingham dispatcher has been placed on leave after a mother said he told her to drive a baby who wasn't breathing well to a hospital because it "would be quicker," according to several reports.

The Framingham mom claims that a fire dispatcher told her to take her child to the hospital, rather than send an ambulance, after she had called 911 because of labored breathing, reports NECN.

The town said in a statement, "Our thoughts go out to the family. The chairman of the Board of Selectmen has reached out to the family regarding the incident and inquire into the baby's condition." The 911 call reportedly occurred on Wednesday from the mother's cell phone, originally taken by the Massachusetts State Police and then transferred to Framingham.
